The evidence cannot be ignored any longer! Cyber-Bullying is one of the most serious safety issues for our children on the internet. Where are the laws protecting our children from this horrific security issue when online?
In articles on the topic of Cyber-Bullying Suicides - Cyber Bullycide Victims I have provided statistics and examples giving information on just how important this problem of internet safety is.
I only discovered that nine states had any legislation against Cyber-Bullying as of 12/27/2010. Those statutes weren't, in my opinion, adequate. Where is the legislation against Cyber-Bullying in the remaining 41 states? Why isn't our federal legislative branches taking this issue seriously?
How many children have to be victimized before action is taken?
There are children committing suicide as a result of Cyber-Bullying! Isn't this a serious enough issue to be addressed by our legal system? A child will commit Bullycide once every half hour! Enough already!
The legislative and judicial branches of our federal government need to take notice. They need to offer some form of protection for our children against the Cyber-Bully. Our States Legislative or Judicial branches need also to get involved.
There are many regulations set up by the FCC on internet usage and practices. Where are they when it comes to the protection of our children on the internet?
The majority of the Cyber-Bullying takes place in the chat rooms and forums on the internet that are designed to attract our children. Therefore it is not surprising that internet Bullies and sexual predators frequent these sites as well.
Any chat room or forum that promotes their services to our children as a place to hang out needs to be forced to:
*Eliminate the use of "Private" chat rooms, make everything public.
*Disable Private Messaging.
*Make private all profile information
*Prohibit the uploading or exchanging of photos.
*Prohibit the exchange of emails between users.
*Allow users to block messages from any user for any reason.
*Ban the use of all web cams services
*Assure there is professional monitoring of the venue at all times, 24/7.
Many of these chat rooms make a very handsome profit off of the advertising raised by their services.
The least they can do if they lure and use our kids to gain profit is to protect them!
If those practices were implemented our children would be much safer as a result. As a parent I would be happy to have my child use that service over another that does not adhere to those practices.
Parents need to contact our Government Officials.
As parents we have to provide for the Internet Safety for Teenagers and Children !
